The organization has chosen a variety of plays which are being considered for production. Those plays include On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson, Pageant Play by Matthew Wilkas & Mark Setlock, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress by Allan Ball, The Last Romance by Joe DiPietro, and Mrs. Mannerly by Jeffrey Hatcher. Four of these plays, plus an original children’s show will be chosen for production during the main stage season.
In addition, the organization has chosen several plays for possible production during its Late Night at the Lantern series. The purpose of Late Night at the Lantern is to bring productions to those who wish to participate in or patronize more cutting-edge, mature-audience performances. The plays for this series will be chosen from Pvt. Wars by James McLure, Next Fall by Geoffrey Nauffts, God of Carnage byYasmina Reza, Bright Ideas by Eric Coble, and Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire. Four of these plays will be chosen for the Late Night series.
Those interested in directing any of the above plays are asked to submit a resume electronically to ConwayLanternTheatre@gmail.com. Deadline for submitting resumes is August 1, 2013. Applicants must be available for personal interviews on Sunday, August 4 beginning at 4:00 pm at the Lantern Theatre, located at 1021 Van Ronkle in downtown Conway. Applicants will be interviewed by members of the Lantern’s season committee. The committee will also entertain other play proposals by prospective directors.
