                      Driving Miss Daisy

Conway Community Arts and the Lantern Theatre will hold open auditions for Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Urhy, on Monday and Tuesday, January 9 and 10, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the Lantern Theatre, 1021 Van Ronkle in downtown Conway.

Driving Miss Daisy is the story of an elderly Jewish woman whose son has deemed her no longer fit to drive a car so he hires an African-American man to chauffeur her around. The 1989 film version won the Academy Award for Best Picture and featured Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman.

The play calls for one woman, age 45-80, and two men, age 35-80, one of whom is African-American. Anyone is encouraged to audition, regardless of previous experience. The audition will consist of cold readings from the play.

The play is under the direction of Cindy Romeo, veteran actress  of Conway Community Arts. The play will be presented February 23-26 and March 1-4, 2012 at the Lantern Theatre.

Further information can be obtained from Ms. Romeo at 501-733-6700 or online at www.conwayarts.org.

Conway Community Arts Association is a member of the American Association of Community Theaters.
